Panasonic's KVS5055C Scanner Delivers Superior Value

Customers have made Panasonic's KVS5055C hands down the best selling scanner since it was released this past summer. Whether you are looking to replace older scanner hardware or adding document scanning capacity boost your business efficiency with an A3-size, High Speed document scanner. The fast 90 ppm* scan speed and 200-page Automatic Document Feeder of the KV-S5055C make it ideal for both large-volume and distributed scanning environments. Panasonic's unique paper feed mechanism also minimizes the possibility of damaging important documents and ensures precise feeding to make your office work even more efficient.

  • Stapled Document Detection: Multiple sensors are used to detect various types of stapled documents, and to immediately stop the scanner when a stapled document is detected. This minimizes damage to both the document and the optical glass
  • Ultrasonic Double Feed Detection: The KV-S5055C is equipped with an ultrasonic double feed detection sensor, which accurately detects double feeding even when scanning documents of various thicknesses
  • Ionizer: The ion-filled breeze created by the ionizer neutralizes the electrical charge on the documents to be scanned, and reduces the amount of paper dust that clings to their surface. This ion-filled breeze also flows through the paper path and removes paper dust from the scanning glass to reduce the need for the user to clean the glass
  • Scanning Glass Cleaning Brush: This brush directly cleans the scan glass to help reduce the amount of paper dust accumulation. This process, along with the Ionizer, helps to reduce the amount of maintenance necessary

Is Your Document Imaging Environment Ready for Windows 7?

When Microsoft released Windows Vista three years ago we all heard about or personally experienced how Vista was crippling otherwise powerful computers with excessive system requirements and a wide range of other issues. For many organizations these issues were reason enough to simply ignore the new OS and carry on using and ordering new PCs with XP. As XP machines reach the end of their service life and companies like Dell have halted the sale of XP loaded PCs customer are now moving to Windows 7. Though not as revolutionary in appearance as its predecessor, Microsoft has made good on promises of long-awaited refinements, including better performance and better driver and hardware compatibility in Windows 7. Windows 7 accommodates legacy applications by allow them to run in "XP Mode" and for websites designed for older browsers "Compatibility View" is available in Explorer 8. While there are some work arounds for using older versions of applications in Windows 7 it is recommended that you upgrade to the latest Windows 7 supported versions of your document imaging software products. Previous versions of the following EMC and Kofax software products are not supported in Windows 7.

The following software versions will support Windows 7 desktop client installations:

- EMC ApplicationXtender version 6.5
- EMC Captiva Input Accel version 6.0 SP1
- Kofax Capture version 9
- DocuNECT Virtual Print Driver version 4.2
- DocuNECT Desktop Capture version 4.2

Portford customers can easily access the latest versions of their software entitlements through our support portal http://www.portfordsupport.com/.
